so I imagine LaLD would find itself in a similar situation as Oppo when Gawker gets bought up, but so far there has been zero outcry/panic over there. Would they be killed off if Oppo is? And if not, why not? Is their server/ownership situation different from Oppo’s?

Because there is nothing we can do about it. Why spend a lot of time and energy stressing and posting about something when all of that will have zero effect on the eventual outcome.
Instead I’m continuing to post pictures of diecast cars until I can’t anymore.

Pretty much the same story over at Overland&expedition. Why all the stress? If it goes, it goes and it will be sad. Also, I think anyone who thinks that some switch will be flipped at the end of an auction isn’t seeing this very clearly. Oppo, et al. is sticking around for a little while at least.

LaLD always felt like a subset of oppo, as in most all the LaLDers are also opponauts. so I imagine there’s not much need to duplicate discussions.
besides, you seen what the folks over there can do with a die cast model!? basically witchcraft the amazing things they build! as if they’d have any trouble rising from the ashes

We’re adults playing with toy cars. Bad tampos on the Hot Wheels CSL and scalpers jacking all the good stuff are a bigger problem for us than anything else.
